Reese Witherspoon: the Southern belle with a big heart

Reese Witherspoon: the Southern belle with a big heart

Remember the ice bucket challenge? Most people took part in it just for fun. But Reese Witherspoon made it clear in her challenge video that she intended to defeat this horrible disease. (One of her friends was diagnosed with ALS only a week before the challenge went viral.) Last month, she showed that she meant her words by participating in the LA County Walk to Defeat ALS for the second year. That’s exactly the kind of dedication the Legally Blonde actress shows towards every cause she supports.

Only a fortnight ago, a charity called Girls, Inc honored her for her long-standing support to women’s issues. This was not the first honor in the recognition of Reese’s contribution to charity. In 2014, she was for her philanthropic efforts by Variety magazine, especially as a proponent of Malala Fund.

She is associated with many organizations that work towards the welfare of women and children. Talking about this, she had once said, “As a woman and a mother I care deeply about the well being of other women and children throughout the world and through the years, I have always looked for opportunities to make a difference.”

Charities that she has supported include Save The Children, American Cancer Society, Afghanistan Relief Organization, UNICEF and Food Bank for New York City. Beside being its brand ambassador, Reese is also the chairperson of Avon’s charitable arm. The Avon Foundation works for causes like breast cancer research and abolition of domestic violence.

Reese Witherspoon sure is one good Southern belle with a huge heart to talk about and support causes she believes in. And in case she has inspired you to your bit, come over to Crowdera.
