Despite its 140-characters limit, it makes engaging with people you don’t know or follow much easier. These, and many other characteristics make Twitter a perfect platform to showcase any crowdfunding campaign.
Like on every online community or forum, there is a few specific ways to grab the attention of Twitterati. We have already shared with you some Facebook hacks in an earlier post. At Crowdera, we realize that lesser people are comfortable with Twitter than with Faceboo. Therefore, this time, we tell you a few things about meandering through the Twitter.
BUILD A BASE BEFOREHAND
If you are not on Twitter, or not much familiar with it, spend a few days getting acquainted with the platform. Like any community, familiarity will help you steer through in a better way. Engage with people who you like or agree with by following, liking and retweeting. Have conversations that you can contribute to.
KEEP IT SHORT, YET SENSIBLE
This is a platform where it is very easy to sound like a teenybopper, what with all those tags and hashtags making up entire posts. You will have to be a little more creative in your donation appeals here. Keep a few messages ready from before that have relevant keywords but makes sense as a sentence.
DON’T OVERUSE HASHTAGS
It is important to use the right hashtags for the right audiences to stumble upon your post. However, don’t overuse them. In any post, keep it down to four or five. Do due research to know the popular hashtags associated with your cause or campaign.
REACHING OUT TO STRANGERS
This is one platform where people don’t mind being approached by strangers. However, you have to make sure what you say to them is relevant to them. For every niche, including crowdfunding, there are certain people called influencers. These are people that boast of huge popularity and following on Twitter. You can also ask their opinion and advice on your work or campaign.
BUILD AND FOLLOW LISTS
Another useful feature of Twitter is that it allows you to create a list. You can create multiple lists and include accounts that seem to fit into those categories. You don’t need to follow them to include. Moreover, you can access the lists made by others if they have kept it public.

So, yes Twitter allows only 140 characters in a post. However, there are ways around that rule. With every post, you can include upto four images. You can have screenshots of your message written on a text editor as these accompanying images. You could also just inlcude your Facebook post (which will be more descriptive) in your Tweet. Even your links can be shortened.
USE A SCHEDULING SOFTWARE
Tools like Hootsuite or TweetDeck to schedule and manage the frequency of the posts. This will also allow you to take care of your social media posting for the day or week at one go.
